Journey to Elycia

It starts with the melodies, the words and the chords. Then in come the players who turn music into songs

"A rush of sound-waves beating against an invisible reef of chords", that is the music of Elycia

The Journey to Elycia began a few years back with a girl, her voice and a second-hand acoustic guitar. Sitting on a virtual, misty seashore, the girl, Sylvia, wrote the first Elycian song "Fish in the Sea" just a few days after first picking up the weathered, discarded guitar to learn its works. Intrigued by the new sounds, guitar and bass player Jussi, who had already been playing in various bands for some years began crafting the melody and chords into a song adding to it its rhythm, bass, guitars and synths. And hence, the first Elycian story emerged. This first song was soon to be followed by another, and that by many others .

The day the name Elycia came
The name "Elycia" was however yet to be discovered. Sylvia had an aquaintance, a night owl who fed on fantasy and magik. This night owl was not only a striving writer of such genres but also a heavy reader, and on one of the many shelves piled up with such books in the dimmish lair was an illusive epos "Elycia".
"What is Elycia?" "For different people it may mean different things. For some, it is a sanctuary in-between". The notion of this mythical, surreal and dualistic place, Elycia, became fused with music and hence the song and name "Elycia" came to be.

Shadows revisited
It was soon after that the Elycian melodies and words were to be recaptured and then set asail in a new form. Jussi's friend Tommi was a true master of the Piano and music theory. Together Jussi and Tommi began working on the original piece "Shadows", and hence the song was recreated most noticeably along with Tommi's captivating piano intro.

The Arrival
Elycian songs were to be further navigated into existence by this trio, but there were clearly still quite a few musical miles to travel before reaching the Elycian shores. Through the fog and misty waters they sailed, and Elycia was eventually reached when Make V and Marko arrived onboard. Make V, a long-time drummer in many bands, including the cult punk band "Pojat", had first heard the song "Shadows" on a web site. He recruited his friend Marko, originally guitar player and singer of a heavy metal band, to the rehearsals, and thus the band of Elycia became complete.

And it is in this form that the Journey of Elycia continues...

Elycia is more than just a home for its dwellers, it´s a source of inspiration for their music, their stories, and a vessel for their ongoing journeys
